Dangerous cold and wind chills are leading some school districts, including Wichita, to cancel classes for Tuesday.  A wind chill warning will continue to be in effect through noon Tuesday for wind chills that could be -20 to -30

Wichita Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, but all afternoon and evening athletic practices and competitions will continue as scheduled.

  • All non-attendance center personnel are expected to work as regularly scheduled, except for coaches and specialists on teacher contracts who will not report to work.
  • All school-based custodians, secretaries, clerks, school-based security and administrative personnel (principals and APs) are expected to report to their buildings as regularly scheduled.
  • All teachers, paras and school-based food staff do NOT report to work.
  • FPC 260-day Nutrition Services employees who work in the SSC are expected to report to work.

Classes are expected to be back in session in USD 259 on Wednesday.

Wichita Catholic Schools are closed Tuesday.

Wichita State University will move to remote operations for Tuesday.  Critical campus operations will be open, and employees who support these operations will report to campus. All other employees should work remotely when possible.

WSU Tech will have all campus buildings closed and classes will be conducted virtually.   Student will get communication from their instructors on Blackboard or their WSU Tech student email account.  Employees should work remotely, and those employees whose work is essential to campus operations should contact their supervisor for more information.

Butler Community College is closed Tuesday at all locations.

Holy Name Catholic School in Winfield will not have classes Tuesday.

The Sedgwick County Zoo will remain closed Tuesday.

Botanica is closed Tuesday.
