Wichita’s non-profit League 42 baseball organization has created a GoFundMe account to raise money to replace the statue of baseball legend Jackie Robinson.

The statue was cut down and stolen January 25th from the League 42 ballpark at McAdams Park, and police have been looking for the people responsible for the theft.  The statue was found in pieces and burned Tuesday morning at Garvey Park.

The page has raised close to $97,000 as of Wednesday morning.    League 42 said any additional funds beyond the cost of replacing the statue will go to the youth baseball operations.

In addition, the Wichita-based Spangles restaurant chain will be collecting donations to help replace the statue.  Donations will be taken from February 1st through the 4th at all Spangles locations, in the lobby or at the drive-through window.
