The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a phone scam involving someone posing as a deputy.

The caller informs the resident that they have failed to show for jury duty, demanding payment of a fine.  The number that the calls are coming from is 316-402-1922.

The Sheriff’s Office said it will never ask for money, gift cards, or any other form of financial transaction.  Residents are urged to be cautious and they should not provide any personal information or make any payments if they get a call of this nature.

If you receive a call like this and are unsure whether it is a scam, you can contact the Butler County District Court Clerk’s Office immediately at 316-322-4370 to verify the validity of the call.
