A substance abuse treatment organization has announced that Naloxone vending machines are being installed at locations in Wichita and Hutchinson, to help treat opioid overdoses.
DCCCA (Developing Caring Communities Committed to Action) and Healthy Blue, a collaboration of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas and Kansas City and Anthem Partnership Holding Company have set up the machines to provide a quick first response to overdoses. The Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is free and can be obtained by entering a zip code into the machine.
The vending machine in Wichita will be at Second Chance/Big Fish Bail Bonds at 705 North Broadway. The machine in Hutchinson will be at the Crossover Recovery Center at 400 West 2nd.
