A 26-year-old Cheney police officer was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of rape.
Cheney Police Chief Ken Winter said the incident reportedly occurred while the officer was off duty.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is the investigating agency in the case and the officer is being held in the Sedgwick County Jail, pending formal charges.
When the investigation is completed, the case will be turned over to the district attorney’s office.
