Wichita Police provided an update on the case involving a suspicious package on August 2nd.

The device was found around 7 a.m. at the Trust Women clinic at 5107 E. Kellogg (Kellogg and Bleckley). The bomb squad was called to the scene and a robot was used to examine the device. Kellogg was closed for about 5 hours during the incident, along with Orme between Oliver and Edgemoor. People in the area were also asked to evacuate or shelter inside.

In a news release issued Friday, officials with the Wichita Police Department acknowledge the public interest in the case, but said only limited information will be released as the investigation is still active.

Authorities did say that based on the results of the investigation so far, not enough information was possessed to suggest that the incident is linked to a particular group. They added that evidence gathered does not indicate any intent to disrupt regular business operations or city activities, or cause fear among the public.

Evidence collected from the scene has been submitted for further examination and laboratory testing, and the results of those tests are still pending. WPD officials said that they have not been able to locate videos of the incident of any value.

The WPD is asking anyone with information to call WPD detectives at 316-268-4407, the See Something Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
