A chase with a stolen vehicle went across two counties early Sunday, and it ended with the arrest of a 24-year-old Great Bend man on a number of charges.
Barton County sheriff’s deputies were chasing a stolen car southwest of Great Bend and the chase led into Ellenwood, where a police unit used stop sticks to flatten one of the tires. The car continued east into Rice County, and Rice County deputies and Lyon police joined the chase. Stop sticks flattened another tire, but the car continued into the city of Lyons where it hit two patrol cars from Barton County and one Sterling police car. Several other law enforcement vehicles then struck the car and forced it to a stop.
The driver, identified as Luis Cerna, was arrested and taken to the Rice County jail where he is facing charges related to the chase, and he is also facing charges in Barton County.
