Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal stabbing that happened Friday at a north Wichita home.
Police were called to the 2300 block of North Chautauqua around 3 p.m. on information that a woman could be injured inside a home. Officers forced the door open and found 66-year-old Brenda McNeely with a stab wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police learned that McNeely had been involved in a disturbance with a 35-year-old man, and they tracked down the suspect and took him into custody for first degree murder.
Detectives said the victim and suspect knew each other and there is no reason to believe there are any other suspects. Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of charges.
