Highway 50 was closed in both directions in Harvey County because of a crash involving a semi and a minivan.
Newton officials said a minivan was traveling west on Highway 50 when it blew a tire near Old Main. The van went out of control, crossed the median and hit an eastbound semi. The semi then went off the road and hit an RV storage facility, causing the fire. A number of RVs burned in the fire and the building structure was seriously damaged.
Highway 50 and Southwest 14th Street were closed to traffic. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
Fire units from Newton, Halstead, Sedgwick and Hesston responded to the fire.
