A firefighter has serious injuries after a house fire that broke out in south Wichita.
The fire was reported around 8:45 a.m. in the 7200 block of South Pattie, which is near 63rd Street South and Hydraulic.
Crews saw smoke coming from the house when they arrived, and they got the fire under control within a short time. A firefighter was taken to a hospital with burn injuries to his hands. He was treated and later released. A pet was killed in the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
