Kansas court system to be on paper filings for now

The Kansas court system will likely be operating on paper for the next couple of weeks.  The Kansas Supreme Court said there has been an “unauthorized incursion” into the brand-new statewide computer system and it will be down for at least two weeks. This will affect all Kansas state courts.

The Sedgwick County Court is open but there will be no online submission of applications or filing of court motions.  In the 18th Judicial District, network connections have been shut down to the state’s Odyssey/eCourt system.  They will remain disconnected until judicial officials and Sedgwick County information technology personnel determine that it’s safe to restore services.

The District Court dies not have phone services in its offices, as well as fax services and access to other county applications.  Courts do not have access to eFiling and cannot accept electronic payments, whether by credit card, electronic check or other electronic method.

The District Court offices are open to the public for in-person visits and paper filings.

Wichita’s municipal court is still open and in normal operations.

The City of Topeka’s Municipal Court was closed Monday out of an abundance of caution to allow the city to investigate the possible security concerns.
