The Wichita Board of Education has approved the sale of surplus property to the City of Wichita for the development of a new police substation.

At its regular meeting Monday evening, the school board approved a purchase agreement for five acres at Northwest High School near 13th and Tyler Road. The purchase price will be $450,000.

The board also declared property at 3006 West St. Louis to be surplus.  That is the former Field Elementary School.
