The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office and the Newton Police Department are leading a group of area agencies in a holiday food program.
First Responder Holiday Helpers provided food for over 225 families last year. The participants include police departments and agencies from Burrton, Halstead, Sedgwick, North Newton, Hesston and Walton.
The group has partnered with Dillon’s, which is providing a facility to package the food and is also providing a ten percent match of all money donated.
The campaign is looking for financial donations to maximize the amount of food purchased, and it will provide each family with the same list of food items at a cost of $85. That provides around two weeks of food to help families get through the holiday season.
Cash or checks can be dropped off or sent to the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office or the Newton Police Department at 120 E. 7th in Newton. Checks should be made payable to First Responders Holiday Helpers.
