Voters are going to the polls Tuesday in Wichita and other communities to decide races for mayor, city council and school board seats.

In Wichita, voters will choose between incumbent Brandon Whipple and former TV reporter Lily Wu in the mayor’s race.    In the City Council District Two contest, incumbent Becky Tuttle has two challengers, Marcey Gregory and Hatim Zeineddine.   The District 4 race has Dalton Glasscock and Judy Pierce competing for the seat now held by Jeff Blubaugh, who is in his second term.   The District 5 race has Gary Bond, J.V. Johnston and Ben Taylor competing for the seat now held by Bryan Frye, who is completing his two-term limit.

There are three races on the ballot for Wichita Board of Education seats.   Ken Carpenter and Ngoc Vuong are competing in District 3.   The District 4 race has incumbent Stan Reeser being challenged by Jason Carmichael.   The District 6 contest has Brent Davis and Melody McCray-Miller on the ballot.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.   Voters who waited until election day will have to go to their designated polling place to cast their ballots, and they can find their voting location on the Election Office page on the county’s web site at sedgwickcounty.org

The Election Office reports mailing out 22,362 advance ballots, and over 13,000 have been returned.  There were over 15,700 voters who cast ballots at the satellite voting locations that were open November 2nd through the 4th.   Early in-person voting ended at the Election Office at noon on Monday.

People with mail ballots will have to have them postmarked by 7 p.m. or they can take it to the Election Office or an official ballot drop box.
