A Derby teenager has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that happened last week in south Wichita.
The District Attorney’s Office said 18-year-old Phillip Walls is charged with first degree murder and two counts of attempted aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $750,000 and his next court appearance was scheduled for January 3rd.
Officers found 34-year-old Daniel McPherson near Hydraulic and MacArthur around 2 a.m. on December 6th. He died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Two men were located by police in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and they had gone to a hospital because one of them had a gunshot wound. The men were taken into custody after an investigation.
Walls was brought back to Sedgwick County to face charges while the other suspect, 19-year-old James Sawyer of Wichita, is fighting extradition to Kansas.
