Butler County officials have announced safety improvements for a rural intersection that was the scene of a fatal crash on December 10th. Residents have been calling for improvements for the intersection of SW 150th and Santa Fe Lake Road, southwest of Augusta.
The county announced in a social media post on Wednesday that rumble strips are being installed at the intersection.
A two-vehicle crash at the intersection resulted in the deaths of Wichita veterinarian Dr. Monica Moore, 46, and her 16-year-old daughter Madison. A 30-year-old woman from El Dorado was seriously injured.
Residents went to a Butler County commission meeting two days after the crash to call for measures to improve safety at the intersection. Commissioners promised that steps would be taken.
