A Wichita man has been sentenced to more than 18 years in prison for the drug-related death of his infant son.
26-year-old Calvin Vick was given a sentence of 219 months after pleading guilty to distribution of a controlled substance, aggravated endangering of a child, and distribution of a controlled substance causing great bodily harm or death.
Prosecutors said 22-month-old Israel Luna-Vick was taken to a Wichita hospital on June 22nd, 2022 after he was found unresponsive on the floor of Vick’s apartment in the 8400 block of East Harry. The boy died within an hour of arriving at the hospital. Police found four tablets in the carpet and underneath the child’s sleeping area, and testing showed the pills contained fentanyl. An autopsy found that the boy died after ingesting methamphetamine and fentanyl.
