Kansas lawmakers are considering a bill that, if enacted, would force users attempting to access adult-entertainment websites to prove their age via an approved database.
If enacted, the measure – proposed by Republican State Representative Patrick Penn of Wichita – would require users attempting to access websites containing material deemed harmful to minors to verify their age via a commercially approved database. Penn says, under the plan, the identities of approved users would remain private.
Penn said the intent is to prevent minors from accessing pornographic web sites.
