Police in Newton said a driver had a medical emergency and crashed into a Walmart store just before noon Friday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the woman as 69-year-old Wanda Hoyle of Newton.
The vehicle crashed into the store on South Kansas Avenue and ended up halfway into the building at the Vision Center. The store was evacuated because of structural concerns and it was to remain closed until a structural engineer could look over the damage.
