The City of Wichita, Sedgwick County and the Wichita Public Schools have opened nominations for the annual Excellence in Public Service Award.

This is the 36th year for the awards, which recognize an employee from the city, the county and the school district for following a high standard of service:

  • Exemplary performance that has contributed to the public interest;
  • Innovative problem-solving skills that improve service delivery;
  • Adherence to high ethical standards in carrying out job responsibilities; and
  • A record of community involvement through participation in civic organizations.

The nomination process will continue through 5 p.m. on February 29th.   Nomination forms are available in English and Spanish at the City Manager’s Office, the County Manager’s Office, and the school district’s Strategic Communications Office.   The forms can be turned in at the City Manager’s Office or online through the city’s web page: Form Center • Excellence in Public Service Nomination Form (wichita.gov)

A committee will select the three winners and they will be surprised at work in April.  They will receive $2,500 and will be honored at a reception.   The awards are sponsored by the DeVore Foundation.
