Officials have filed charges against a third person who was arrested after the February 14th shooting at a rally celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win.
The charges were filed against 36-year-old Jose Castillo of Wichita, for unlawful possession of a firearm. His bond was set at $25,000 and he was being held in the Jackson County, Missouri jail.
Court records said when two juveniles got into a dispute that led to the shooting, a witness reported one of them dropped a handgun. The witness said Castillo picked up the gun and began to walk away. Police said Castillo threw the gun to the ground when officers approached. They said Castillo told them he saw the gun and picked it up, thinking it belonged to an officer, and he was going to return it.
The two juveniles who were arrested have been charged with gun-related offenses in Jackson County Family Court. Prosecutors said more charges are expected and Kansas City police said they are working to find any other persons involved in the shooting.
